Tulum is much more than a beautiful beach in Mexico. In fact is an acient mayan port, and am ancient walled city that nowadays has transformed into one of the most important archaeological places in Mexico. Besides is the only important Maya city built next to the Sea, with an astonishing view of the sea from the top of the 12 meter Maya monument.
Tulum is divided in three zones: the beach, the archeological and the town. The beaches are really impressive, and many of them are yet considered as virgins. In fact, every year thousands of turtles came to these beaches.
In Tulum the mystery of the Maya empire surround the beach, and that makes this beach experience almost unique, as you can maybe be sunbathing in the same place that centuries ago a great empire was built.

Besides the typical beach activities likes diving and snorkeling, in Tulum the activities are obviously relate to archaeology. So, once in Tulum you must abandon the beach for a little bit to know The house of Columns, the Temple of the Descending God and the Temple of the Frescoes.
